X01 – rules and how to play

In X01 every player starts on 301, 501 or 701 points and has to count down to exactly 0. The first player to reach 0 wins the leg.

How it is played

  • The players take turns to throw 3 darts each, and the points scored are subtracted from the remaining score.
  • A single scores the value of the segment, a double twice that and a triple three times. The bull scores 25, the bullseye 50.
  • You win the leg by taking your remaining score to exactly 0 with your last dart.
  • Matches are usually played over several legs, which can be grouped into sets (best of or first to).

Key rules and variants

  • Straight out: the last dart can hit any segment. Double out: the last dart must be a double or the bullseye. Master out: a double or a triple.
  • Bust: if you score more than you have left, or end on 1 with double out, the whole visit is void and you carry on from your previous score.
  • Double in or master in are optional: points only count once you have started with a double, or a double or triple.
  • The highest three-dart finish is 170 (T20, T20, bullseye).
