Bob’s 27 – rules and how to play

Bob’s 27 is a practice game for the doubles. You start on 27 points and throw at double 1, then double 2 and so on up to double 20. Hits raise your score, a miss lowers it. If you drop to 0 or below, you are out.

How it is played

  • In round 1 the target is double 1, in round 2 double 2 and so on up to double 20.
  • Each player throws 3 darts per round.
  • Every hit on the target double scores twice the number: a double 5 is 10 points.
  • If a player hits the double with none of the 3 darts, twice the number is deducted, so 10 points in the round on double 5.

Key rules and variants

  • Example: you start on 27 points. You hit double 1 once (+2 = 29), double 2 twice (+8 = 37), miss double 3 completely (−6 = 31) and hit double 4 once (+8 = 39).
  • Anyone on 0 points or fewer is out. The game ends after the last round or when at most one player is left. The last player standing wins, otherwise the one with the most points.
  • Played alone, the aim is to last as long as possible and finish with a high score.
